"Well I’m telling you to ask Rich": Aaron Glenn snaps at reporter over Garrett Wilson injury question

Aaron Glenn will be missing one of his team's two most potent offensive weapons for some time, and he is tired of being constantly asked about it.

On Tuesday, the New York Jets coach began his press conference by announcing that he would skip injury reports, instead asking reporters to defer to ESPN's Rich Cimini. Eventually, however, a reporter asked him about wide receiver Garrett Wilson, whom Cimini had reported on Monday would miss three to four weeks after spraining his knee in Sunday's win against the Cleveland Browns.

At that point, he lost his cool:

“Ask Rich... Well I’m telling you to ask Rich... Well you better call him... You guys have been hearing it from me… but now since we are just reporting stuff that I haven’t said then maybe you should ask him.”

Later, as Glenn was leaving the room, another reporter told him:

“You’re penalizing us for Rich, though, that’s not fair.”

He responded:

“I’ll penalize you for some of the stuff you said too.”

Wilson himself told reporters that he was "fine" and deferred reports about his absence and return timetable to the coach.

In the same press conference, Aaron Glenn shared some thoughts on Thursday's "fight", as he put it, at the New England Patriots, who have been on a monstrous seven-game winning streak after going 1-2 in Mike Vrabel's first three games as head coach:

"I look forward to it. Again, Thursday night game. There are a number of factors that goes into these games that I keep between myself and the players, that we have to do to go out there and operate the way we need to."

He also had praise for second-year quarterback Drake Maye:

"He's a really good athlete. To be that big and then just going into his second year in the league to be able to process the information that he's processing right now, it's pretty unique to see that from such a young guy. To have all the talk of MVP candidate right now and the way he's going about doing his business, he's doing a good job."
