#5 - C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Chicago Bears
C.J. Gardner-Johnson has bounced around more than perhaps any other player in the NFL since February, but the cornerback is now paired up with Chicago Bears DC Dennis Allen, with whom Gardner-Johnson had spent time in New Orleans. The upside in IDP fantasy football leagues is there for the taking, but the move does carry a hint of risk based on his recent history of bouncing around teams.
#4 - Dre Greenlaw, Denver Broncos
Dre Greenlaw was hyped up as one of the biggest offseason additions for the Denver Broncos. However, the linebacker has faced attendance issues. Those issues might be behind him, making the linebacker's addition a must this week. In just two games of action, Greenlaw has logged 14 total tackles and a sack. If he's available on your IDP fantasy football waiver wire, go get him.
#3 - Dre'Mont Jones, Baltimore Ravens
Dre'Mont Jones is in the midst of what could easily be his best season since he joined the NFL. Jones has logged 4.5 sacks, which is tied for his best season total since 2023.
Now a member of the Baltimore Ravens, thanks to a trade deadline move by the selling Tennessee Titans, Jones could keep the momentum going once he's settled. He won't be on the waiver wire long, so go get him if you are able.
#2 - Drake Thomas, Seattle Seahawks
Drake Thomas is coming off an impressive month in which he earned at least five tackles in every game, including nine tackles against the Washington Commanders.
Thomas has also earned three sacks this season. Ernest Jones IV's injury also adds extra opportunities in the short term for Thomas. According to Seahawks media, head coach Mike McDaniel called the injury "probably not season-ending" on Monday, but the opportunity is there for Thomas.
#1 - Chase Young, New Orleans Saints
Chase Young has only been present for four games, but the defensive end has made an impact in three of the four games he has played in this season. Young currently has three sacks, including two and a half sacks since Oct. 26, and a forced fumble.
The team's defense overall has lacked gumption, but Young has played as well as one could hope.
