Fantasy Football Week 10 Buy Low Sell High Trade Targets ft. Rico Dowdle, Brian Thomas Jr and more

Don’t look now, but trade deadlines are rapidly approaching in season-long fantasy leagues. Make sure you know your cutoff date.

We’ve seen injuries change the landscape of fantasy football in recent weeks, and it’s impacting the trade market. Teams are looking for a replacement for Jayden Daniels and could be sniffing around a trade -- I’m looking at you, Jaxson Dart owners.

Same team, different position. What about Terry McLaurin owners who received news that the 30-year-old receiver reinjured his quad and could sit out through Washington’s Week 12 bye? That’s an owner who is looking to fill a hole. So, why don’t we roll up our sleeves and find a trade partner to help make our team better?

Remember, making trades isn’t about one side winning. It’s to make your roster — and, more importantly, your starting lineup — more potent. That should be your only focus. Forget this “win or lose” nonsense. Just build a killer lineup. The wins will follow.

TRADE FOR:

Rico Dowdle (RB) CAR: I don’t care if this is buying high. Dowdle has a stranglehold on the lead running back role in Carolina, and it’s very valuable. Week 9 saw 25 carries and 130 yards to go along with two scores. This is exactly what fantasy dreams are made of. The Panthers can’t throw the ball. Dowdle should see 20-plus touches weekly behind what has been a very good offensive line (for run blocking anyway). Dowdle’s schedule isn’t anything to worry about either. He just torched one of the best run-stuffing DSTs (Green Bay) for 28 fantasy points. If you can get my guy “Uncle” Rico for the stretch run, it’s going to pay off. I’d be willing to sell a high-end WR to get him if I needed help at running back.

Kyle Pitts (TE) ATL: A slight down week for Pitts (7.8 points) could have his owner open to shopping him. The upcoming schedule for Pitts is mouthwatering. His next two opponents rank in the top 10 in tight end points allowed. He’s past his bye as well, which is enormous for anyone you’re looking to trade for. The Falcons' passing game is concentrated on Drake London, Bijan Robinson, and Pitts -- that’s it. Atlanta has struggled to run the ball lately, and it’s opening up opportunities for their thin passing options. Buy Pitts and have a solid answer to what is usually a frustrating position. Pitts has 26 targets in his last three games.

Emeka Egbuka (WR) TB: A great time to buy low is when a player is coming off a bye week. While Egbuka has slowed from his breakneck pace to begin the year, he’s been dealing with a hamstring injury. With a week off to hopefully rest, he returns to three matchups that should all be shootouts (New England, Buffalo and the LA Rams). Remember, there’s no Mike Evans or Chris Godwin walking through that door for the Bucs. It’s the Egbuka show. It’s not often you’re buying the dip on a player coming off a game with a 35% target share.

TRADE AWAY:

Brian Thomas Jr. (WR) JAX: I’m not sure how public his ankle injury is, but the Jags receiver caught just 3 of 5 balls and left the game early. It’s just not happening for Thomas this year. His target share has dipped to season-low levels in consecutive weeks. He should have enough name value to fetch something in return. We’re talking about a guy who was drafted in early round two and has one finish in the top 30 this year. Oof.

Jaxson Dart (QB) NYG: Listen, it’s not easy to call for readers to trade away a player who, over the past month, is QB3. But you didn’t draft Dart to be your starter, and you’re likely sitting on another player. I’ve looked at dozens of leagues, and in most, the Dart manager can afford to move off him. Go target the team that just lost Jayden Daniels and see what RB or WR you can get for him. This week alone, I’ve made offers for Emeka Egbuka for Dart. He’s doing nothing as your backup. This is all about maximizing your starting lineup. Dart has zero weapons to throw to. Move him before the clock strikes midnight on this Cinderella run.

Keenan Allen (WR) LAC: After a hot start, Allen’s route participation has dipped to below 55% in back-to-back weeks. The emergence of Orande Gadsden at tight end has torpedoed Allen’s usage. It might be hard to unload Allen after another sub-10-point week, but he’s someone I’m looking to send elsewhere in part of a package to upgrade going forward.
