The Cleveland Browns have a lot of time to find a trade partner as the trade deadline inches closer. It appears as though the Browns (2-6) will be sellers between now and Nov. 4, and there’s a lot they could get in return for their prized tight end David Njoku.

Njoku brings a lot to the table, but having played his entire career with the Browns, he may want to move to a contending team. He’s been to one Pro Bowl in his NFL career (2023) and has posted four seasons of at least 50 catches. In February, he said the team needed more quarterback stability, something that hasn't happened.

With the Browns on a bye this week, general manager Andrew Berry has time to explore his options and find the right trade for Njoku if he goes that route.

#1 Washington Commanders

A lot was expected from the Commanders after they made the NFC championship game last season. At 3-5, their season is by no means over, but Dan Quinn will want to add another weapon to the receiving corps to help sophomore quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Njoku has the experience, big-play ability and speed needed to add more dynamism to that offense. Age has gotten the better of their current tight ends, including Zach Ertz.

Njoku’s speed, hands and ability to get separation can help the Commanders turn around their offense and get back into the playoff conversation.

#2 Carolina Panthers

At 4-4, the Panthers are still in the postseason conversation with Bryce Young making a solid third-year leap. There’s plenty of young talent for the quarterback to throw to at the wide receiver spot, but at tight end, they’re a little thin.

Mitchell Evans has proven to be an elite blocker, but we’ve not seen him make many big plays when his number has been called in the receiving game.

He wouldn’t have to worry about that as much with the addition of Njoku. Together, those two could really open up this team’s offense and take them to an improbable playoff run.

#3 Kansas City Chiefs

Travis Kelce is still an outstanding tight end and a dependable player for Patrick Mahomes. Even so, he’s not getting any younger at 36, and his production has gone down a lot over the past few years.

Njoku can bring more speed down the middle than Kelce, and he’s just as much of an end zone threat with six seasons of at least four touchdown catches. The Chiefs want to keep their AFC championship reign going, but they might need to replenish some positions to remain a contending team.

The Super Bowl is the goal for this team, and after eight relatively frustrating seasons in Cleveland, Njoku will want the same thing. Putting these two together makes a lot of sense.

#4 Denver Broncos

Currently on top of the AFC West, the Denver Broncos are an incredibly appealing option for Njoku. They have a magical quarterback in Bo Nix and are well-balanced both offensively and defensively under a coach in Sean Payton who knows what it takes to win.

While the Broncos have a solid tight end in Evan Engram, adding a depth piece like Njoku could work. Throw the ball anywhere near Njoku, and he’ll be able to make his share of plays.

It’s a long season, and injuries happen, and Njoku can help a strong offense now and be more of a featured guy if and when an injury pops up.

#5 Los Angeles Chargers

Jim Harbaugh’s crew is right in the thick of the divisional race in the AFC West at 5-3. Justin Herbert has put together an outstanding season, but this team needs some more depth in the pass-catching department.

Injuries have been a problem for this team offensively, and if the Chargers are to make a run at the playoffs and remain consistent, they need depth.

Tyler Conklin is a solid replacement tight end, but he’s not on the same level as Njoku. Njoku would be far more reliable for Herbert in the trenches and be a solid checkdown player.
