Former NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart recently appeared on the Dale Jr. Download podcast hosted by stock car racing veteran Dale Earnhardt Jr. on YouTube. During the podcast, Stewart opened up about the "first hurdle" he had to overcome while dating Leah Pruett.Don Prudhomme introduced the 54-year-old to Pruett via FaceTime in 2019. Following that, Stewart visited her on the drag strips and developed an interest in drag racing. Later, the couple tied the knot in November 2021 and welcomed a baby boy in November 2024.Being NHRA drivers, Leah Pruett and Tony Stewart had different sponsors while they were dating. Recalling that, the former NASCAR driver pointed out that it was their first hurdle, and the couple handled it in a very mature way. During that time, Pruett was sponsored by Pennzoil, while Stewart had Mobil 1 in his corner.However, the couple found a way to work around them and decided not to wear any sponsored branding when they attend each other's events. The former Cup Series team owner explained further [00:12 onward]:"First one was, she's sponsored by Pennzoil. I'm sponsored by Mobil.1. That's the first hurdle. She's sponsored by Dodge. And then Dodge and Ford. So it's like, man, what are we going to do? So no joke, I called my PR guy, and I said, "Hey, this is what's going on." Because nobody knew we were doing anything together. Like there were two or three people that knew who I was with and where I was at. I said, we got to figure this out.""We'll work around it. You know? We said, "Hey, when I go to her events, I won't wear any branding." When she goes to my events, she won't wear any branding. And that's what we've done. And that's it. "We’ve got six or eight pit stops throughout the day, and we have three, four, or five hundred laps to get the job done. If we make a mistake, we’ll fix it."Tony Stewart concluded by comparing the engines of the two series. He highlighted that NHRA Series dragsters generate around 11,000 horsepower. While NASCAR engines are restricted to 650 horsepower, the cars are designed to race on oval tracks.
