Spire Motorsports announced a big move for 2026. The team will make its debut with Kyle Larson's co-owned High Limit Racing series as part of its Ascent Program.ARCA Menards driver Gio Scelzi will drive the No. 77 410 Sprint Car in the full 66-race High Limit Racing series. The 24-year-old will also compete in the 40th annual Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Okla. He will get sponsorship from Chili's and run a car prepared by veteran owner Keith Kunz. Scelzi made the A-Main at the Chili Bowl in 2018.Spire has also partnered with the IndyCar and USAC team, Clauson Marshall Racing, in this effort. The team revealed the driver on Thursday, December 11, with a post on X.Scelzi was the youngest driver to win in the World of Outlaws at 16 in 2018. He also claimed the youngest win at Knoxville Raceway the following year. Scelzi also raced in pavement late models and collected a win at Roseville, California, in the ARCA Menards Series West."The NASCAR stuff is their job but it's pretty obvious they enjoy sprint car racing. We’ll likely run 80 to 90 times a year at probably 50 different race tracks but when you have an owner like Jeff [Dickerson] who truly loves sprint car racing and comes from that background, it really makes this an exciting opportunity." Scelzi said.Spire Motorsports made its NASCAR debut in 2019 and earned its first Cup Series win that same year. The team purchased a High Limit "9 Card," which is a permanent franchise or membership card in the series, from Jason Myers Racing and will carry a High Roller Club membership card at the season opener in Las Vegas.Team co-owner Jeff Dickerson commented on the expansion and said in a team release:"We are not a NASCAR team that is going dirt racing. We are dirt racers who happen to have a NASCAR team. This is in our blood and we can't wait to get to Vegas in March."Spire Motorsports has hired respected crew chief Eric Prutzman to lead the sprint car program. Prutzman previously won six straight national titles with High Limit Racing and former World of Outlaws champion Brad Sweet.NASCAR Cup driver Carson Hocevar made a start with the team and scored a top-10 finish at the Gateway Dirt Nationals last week. The team also signed 14-year-old Tristan McKee to its Ascent Program in January this year. McKee competed across late models, ARCA, and other series.
