Earnhardt Sr. and Wallace had an on-track rivalry and a complex relationship. The duo always gave the hardest battles and pulled moves on each other. The former Penske Racing driver recalled an instance at North Wilkesboro Speedway during the episode.

Rusty Wallace talked about the 0.625-mile track race where he brake-tested Dale Earnhardt Sr. on the track. During the race, Dale Sr. banged Wallace twice from behind on turn 2, leading to a frustrating moment. Following that, Wallace slammed brakes and locked Dale Sr. down. He further explained:

“So we get in the race, and I come off of turn two, and he bangs me in the back end. I'm like, what the world's going on here, you know? So we run, like, three more laps, and all sudden, it gets a good, good bite off a turn two, and bam, hits me a back end again. So, man, I got hot, and I said, I've never done this to driver, but I did it to your dad, and I come off a turn two, and he hits me in the back, and I slammed the brakes on.”

“I just locked him down, and he then hit me back so damn hard to tour the grill out of his car. Tore the whole front end off. His damn car. Tore my bumper all off. And I went ahead and finished sucking the race, and he had the front end tore off,” he added.

Dale Sr. had achieved unparalleled success in his stock car racing career. He clinched three Coca-Cola 600 titles and won the Great American Race, the Daytona 500, twice. He won the first event as a driver and the second one as an owner.

Reflecting on his father’s record, Dale Jr. told Cleetus McFarland:

"I love it. My fear is that he'll one day just be forgotten with time. My worry would be that he would just, he would just disappear into the distance right as we get further and further removed from his career."

"I just hope he's never forgotten because he left such an impact on the sport. So that kind of thing is the same power that is the reminder to me, like that he's he resonated with people," he added.

Unlike his father, Dale Earnhardt Jr. never once won the Cup Series championship title. However, he made up for that by being the most popular driver award holder 15 times from 2003 to 2017.
