The Chevrolet setup has been the same since 2020, albeit with a branding change from Camaro. The carmaker has now earned NASCAR’s sign-off on an updated body after extensive wind tunnel sessions in front of the other OEMs.

The new setup will be revealed at the Daytona 500 next year. Reflecting upon the change, Hendrick spoke to NASCAR analyst Bob Pockrass.

"Our guys along with GM worked on this, and it's supposedly better than what we got, so closer to what Toyota and Ford have," Rick Hendrick said,"I mean, they had a shot at the Apple, you know, taking our car and getting their car better. So next year. I mean, we got to learn the car. It won't be perfect right out of the gate. But I'm super excited about the Power and I'm excited about having a new car that we can work with. It's got a little more downforce."

2025 title winner Kyle Larson began the season with multiple wins to his name, but the HMS stable struggled as a whole as the season went along. Moreover, the four car outfit lacked in pace compared to Toyota and Ford's dominance in the playoffs.

Larson, however, came out on top due to his consistent points scoring. He had seven top-5s in the playoffs and despite the NASCAR format rewarding wins, he did run really good down the stretch and got some good finishes.

Rick Hendrick argues it's 'hard' to win NASCAR championships in the current format

Rick Hendrick weighed in on the playoffs and explained how tough it is to win a title. A valid current criticism of the current format is how the points reset after every playoff round, making it difficult to keep track of dominant storylines, while the drivers themselves can't carry over their momentum into the next round.

In a post-race press conference at Phoenix, Hendrick shared whether Kyle Larson can win anymore titles in the current format.

"I look at Denny and how good Denny’s run and he hadn’t got one. These things are really hard under these rules to win a championship. You can win all the races, you can win a ton of races, you get here, have a flat tire, things can happen. A lot of these things are out of your control," Rick Hendrick replied.

Its widely believed that a new playoff format is in the offering. The sanctioning body is reportedly doing away with the single-race title decider and instead, will go for a three or four round finale round. A full season points system is also on the cards.

Moreover, viewership has also declined under the current format. Most races struggle to cross the two million mark, while an increased viewership was the norm in the pre-playoff era.
