Tyler Reddick’s younger son, Rookie, underwent surgery after being diagnosed with a kidney tumor and had the affected kidney removed. After the successful completion of the surgery, the little boy was taken home.Following the surgery, Reddick shared an update about his son's health during an interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. The excerpt of the interview was posted on X.“He's recovered very quickly from the surgery. I think we still have a couple other things to see through in regards to, you know, stomach, and some other things that might be a separate issue he's dealing with. The real crazy stuff appears to be behind us.”The 29-year-old spoke about how the entire ordeal it affected the family. Further he expressed gratitude for everyone's support during such a tumultuous time."It's been a lot on us. It's been a lot on Beau (Reddick's elder son). Just thankful there's a lot of people who have helped along the way,” Reddick added. “Thankful for family and everybody else. Super thankful that everything went well.”The 23XI Racing driver finished the 2025 season ninth on points (2309), right behind Hendrick Motorsports driver and former NASCAR Cup Series champion, Chase Elliott. In total, the 23XI Racing driver amassed seven top fives and 14 top-10s, besides leading 169 laps.Tyler Reddick is currently in the off-season with his wife and two sons. He doesn’t have a NASCAR Cup Series race to run before February 15, when NASCAR will host its opening race of the 2026 season at Daytona International Speedway. But for the most part, it looks promising.”Staying in the hospital for an extended period has made sleep a challenge for little Rookie. Reflecting on the same, the California born driver said,“He had just gotten so attuned to being in a hospital and all the noises that come with it and we’re laying in bed and he’s trying to fall asleep, but he’s fussing real bad.”Neither Tyler Reddick nor his wife, Alexa, expects any further surgery, depending on whether the tumor grows back. The doctors said that the tumor will no longer choke Rookie’s renal vein and renal artery, which had been causing his heart to swell.
