Joe Gibbs Racing has completed a major structural shift, selling its manufacturing arm to Torque Capital Group. The acquisition reshapes the NASCAR organization, giving control to an operation with decades of engineering experience.

The deal removes Joe Gibbs Manufacturing Solutions from the JGR umbrella. The company has evolved from producing racing components to supplying composites, machined parts, and assemblies tied to solid rocket motor propulsion. It has rebranded the business as JGA Space & Defense and will have a significant role in the U.S. aerospace and defense supply chains.

Jonathan Saltzman, managing partner at Torque Capital Group, said via Pulse 2.0:

“This investment, expansion and rebranding represent an exciting nw chapter for JGA Space & Defense. As growth-oriented entrepreneurs and operators, we are closely aligned with JGA’s legacy of precision, innovative engineering and excellence, and we are proud to support pivotal roles in the supply chains for both national security and space exploration.”

Torque Capital is a New York-based private equity firm with a record of acquiring industrial and manufacturing companies and building them out through targeted capital investments. Their strategy often centers on facility expansion, operational upgrades, and diversifying product lines to ensure long-term federal and commercial contracts. That approach mirrors what they now intend to apply to JGA Space & Defense.

The firm plans to invest more than $25 million in the Joe Gibbs Racing operation, expand its workforce, and launch production from nearly 60,000 square feet of new manufacturing space in Huntersville by early 2026. The company has also secured an option to double the footprint as demand grows.

Joe Gibbs Racing fields four Cup cars, and the No. 19 - driven by 2025 finalist Chase Briscoe - is now set for a fresh look in 2026. Columbia Bank has signed a multi-year agreement to sponsor the entry in three races next season, adding new branding alongside the car’s other partners.

The No. 19 will carry Columbia Bank colors at Circuit of the Americas on March 1, Sonoma Raceway on June 28, and Phoenix Raceway on October 18. The team announced the blue-and-white scheme on X last month:

"JGR has signed a multi-year agreement with @Columbia_Bank to sponsor @chasebriscoe 's No. 19 Toyota Camry in three races in 2026."

Bass Pro Shops remains the primary partner for Briscoe. Columbia Bank will also serve as Joe Gibbs Racing’s official banking partner and handle the organization's day-to-day financial services.

Eric Schaffer, the team’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer, said in a team statement:

“We’re excited to partner with Columbia Bank starting in 2026. Their commitment to relationship-based banking aligns perfectly to our approach with our partners.”

The bank echoed that sentiment, pointing to JGR’s competitive standards and Briscoe’s progression through his first season with the organization. The 2026 NASCAR Cup Series opens February 1 with the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium.
