In November 2025, two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch announced his return to the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway, scheduled for December. Following that, Busch was featured in an interview with FloRacing ahead of the main event and opened up about the tense qualifying situation for the 300-lap event.

The #51 Lucas Oil driver compared Snowball Derby qualifying with the Daytona 500 and elucidated the differences. Busch pointed out that he will be driving a new car. He further stated that the qualifying night depends on several factors, unlike the Daytona 500, where it depends on having the fastest car.

Kyle Busch claimed that track and weather conditions play an important role in qualifying for the Snowball Derby. He also revealed that the organization has added jet fuel to the track to dry it, which may cause a slippery surface for the front-row drivers. He explained [00:56 onward]:

“You know, your race car is only going to go as fast as your race car can go. But snowball Derby qualifying, there's so many different conditions. You know, the weather forecast, obviously, this week's been thrown way out of proportion with that. But like, the dew comes in and sets in on the track sometimes. So your draw is very important.”

“That's a little bit different this year now. So now you got jet fuel on the racetrack, so the first few guys are going to go out there and probably slide around a little bit. So I feel like later is actually going to be a little bit more beneficial this time around. And it's just, it's tense. There's only, there's only 30 guys that get locked in, and the field is so close and so tight, so many good cars down here, and a lot of good competition,” he added.

Originally, the qualifying session for the 58th annual Snowball Derby is scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 8 p.m. However, the rain delayed the session. Following that, Kyle Busch will enter the track in P38 for the session to decide his starting position for the main 300-lap event.

"Exploit it the way you need": Kyle Busch expressed his feelings about the rumored 3/3/4 playoff format

In September 2025, Richard Childress Racing driver Kyle Busch appeared on Frontstretch media for an interview. During the interaction, Busch shared his perspective on the rumored 3/3/4 format for the upcoming Cup Series season.

Meanwhile, the current format features three elimination rounds with three races each round. Each round eliminates four low-scoring drivers from the grid, and only four remain to compete in the one-race championship decider event. However, the format has been facing scrutiny from the fans for the past few years, and NASCAR aims to change it for the 2026 season.

Reflecting on that, Kyle Busch dropped a crystal-clear response and told the media house:

"Uh, I don't. It doesn't matter what system it is. Everybody wants to make such a big deal about what it is. If you know what is going in, exploit it the way you need to exploit it for yourself to make a championship. There you go.”

Kyle Busch finished the 2025 Cup Series season outside of the top 20 drivers in P21. He amassed 737 points and remained winless throughout the season. Busch only secured three top-five finishes and 10 top-ten finishes in 36 starts this season.
