Wildcard NASCAR driver Austin Cindric described his rain-affected Supercars debut at the 2025 Adelaide Grand Final as chaotic and challenging because it took place in constantly changing wet conditions. Cindric stepped into a Supercar for the first time in conditions, facing a soaking-wet circuit, unpredictable weather shifts, and one of the most challenging touring car environments in the world.

Austin Cindric had a good day racing behind the wheel of Tickford Racing’s #5 Ford Mustang supercar for the first time. On day two of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship finale at Adelaide Street Circuit, the NASCAR star started 24th and finished 23rd in the 25-driver field.

Despite the rain, Cindric walked away encouraged and relieved, sharing a lighthearted but honest reflection on his Supercars debut after Friday’s race.

In a video posted by Tickford Racing on Instagram, the Team Penske driver said:

“My first supercars race was wet. I think that's kind of the extent of it. I didn't finish last, but yeah, obviously a lot is going on. The first standing start was also done in the rain. Conveniently, the guy in front of me decided to stall, so that got pretty involved. Followed the queue around for a while, kind of figured out the limit.”

“About lap five or six we were in, and a lot of the cars in front of me kind of pitted, so I had to track myself for a while and kind of learned the tire. Then it kind of started raining again, then it really started raining again, and we had that red flag. So the Armor All Repco Ford Mustang is in one piece,” he continued.

“I'm mildly satisfied with today”: Austin Cindric after P24 finish in Friday’s race

In Friday’s 32-lap opening race of the Supercars Grand Final on the streets of Adelaide, Austin Cindric finished ahead of Tekno Autosports’ Will Davison in the final standings. Meanwhile, Brodie Kostecki took the victory in the rain-shortened Adelaide opener.

The Daytona 500 winner is mildly satisfied because he made progress, but he’s not fully content, as he wants to keep building on what he learned, perform better, and continue improving in the remaining two races of the Repco Supercars Championship finale weekend.

“We still have two races left on the weekend. Today was a good day to really learn, but yeah, I want to keep spoiling it up throughout the weekend. I would say I'm mildly satisfied with today, but yeah, like I said, I want to keep improving,” Cindric continued.

Watch Austin Cindric in action at Adelaide Street Circuit on Saturday, followed by the Top 10 Shoot Out and a 78-lap race on the same day.
