Crafton's final outing marks the end of a 26-year run in the sport. The No.88 driver initially made his Truck Series debut in the 2000 season finale held at California Speedway, but it wasn't until 2002 that Menards partnered up as an associate sponsor. He finished the year 15th in points with six top-10s to his name.

After a one-year stint with Kevin Harvick Incorporated in 2004, Crafton returned to pilot the No.88 Menards and has been a fixture with ThorSport Racing ever since. Crafton retires with three championships under his belt. Reflecting upon the enduring career, ThorSport Racing shared an X post that read:

"For more than two decades, the iconic yellow #88 has been a staple of the NASCAR Truck Series - and at the heart of it all, Matt Crafton and Menards.💛 Since 2002, Menards has carried Crafton to 15 wins, 3 championships, and over 2,700 laps led with ThorSport Racing - marking it the longest driver-sponsor partnership in NASCAR history, surpassing Richard Petty and STP.🔥"

The 49-year-old had his first Truck Series win in the 2008 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Notably, the win came on his 178th start, a record at the time for most starts for a driver before their maiden win.

Reigning NASCAR Truck Series champion to carry the mantle after Matt Crafton's retirement

Ty Majeski, driver of the No.98 Soda Sense Truck for Thorsport Racing, will take over Matt Crafton's No.88 Menards in 2026. The reigning champion will defend his title in the finale race at Phoenix Raceway.

NASCAR analyst Bob Pockrass recently shared Majeski's thoughts on the 2026 deal. In an excerpt from the video interview, Majeski shared that he was 'exteremely honoured' to helm the No.88.

"The iconic 88 truck has been a staple in the sport with Menards on the side of it for 23 years now, so to be the guy that's going to take that over; little bit of pressure to live up to that legacy," he said.

Ty Majeski has been running the No.98 for three years now. He joined ThorSports Racing as a part-time driver in 2021, but he ran the No.66 during his first full-time season in 2022. He clinched his first championship race using the same number.

After missing the title in 2023, Majeski dominated the 2024 race at Phoenix and won his maiden Truck Series championship.
