NASCAR will boost Cup Series horsepower at certain tracks starting from the 2026 season. As per reports, the new horsepower figure will increase to 750 from the baseline 670 in the current rules configuration for the NASCAR Cup Series. However, these tracks must be either road courses or less than 1.5 miles.Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports revealed which tracks NASCAR is going to bring this change to on X. There were 17 tracks in all, including San Diego at Naval Base Coronado, which will host NASCAR's first-ever Cup Series street race in June 2026.All tracks that Pockrass marked TS1170 will witness faster Cup cars running at 750 HP, whereas the ones that are marked TS1050 will have the cars run at 670 HP. These 17 tracks are Bowman Gray, Bristol, Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course, COTA, Darlington, Dover Motor Speedway, Iowa, Martinsville, Nashville, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, North Wilkesboro, Phoenix, Richmond, San Diego, Sonoma, Watkins Glen, and World Wide Technology Speedway. Here is what Pockrass wrote as the caption to his post:“2026 Cup aero and horsepower packages. The TS1170 is the 750 horsepower; the TS1050 is 670 horsepower.”In an earlier interview, NASCAR executive vice president John Probst admitted that some of the best Cup racing that the sport has right now is at the intermediate tracks. While introducing the new package, the officials needed to make sure that they didn’t upset the existing package.“It is a package. It's the downforce, it's the drag, it's the power, it's the tire wear, all together that's creating those good shows,” Probst explained. “So don't want to just change one for the sake of changing it and then find out later that we did something bad there and hurt the on-track product. So we'll proceed with caution."The new horsepower package will debut at Bowman Gray Stadium on February 1, 2026. Fans can watch the race on FOX or listen to live radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.Chevrolet introduces an upgraded Camaro ZL1 body for the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series seasonThe Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, which drivers from the Chevy camp drive full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, will look a lot different starting from the 2026 season. A new and refreshed Camaro ZL1 was unveiled on Friday, November 14.Notably, the Chevy Camaro ZL1 was first used in the NASCAR Cup Series back in 2018, replacing the now-obsolete Chevrolet SS. As quoted by NASCAR.com in a recent story,“The racing version of the Camaro now features a larger hood dome, revisions to the front grille and redefined rocker panels. The automaker indicated that those design features align with the Carbon Performance Package Accessories Kit's carbon-fiber pieces on the hood and rockers, plus a new grille and front splitter.”Like the new horsepower package, the new Chevy Camaro ZL1 will also debut at the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium.
