Hamlin, who drives the No. 11 for Joe Gibbs Racing, has been trying to bag his maiden series championship for decades now.Hamlin is the longest-tenured driver in the Cup Series without a championship. On the other hand, drivers younger than him, like Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott, and Larson himself, have clinched their respective titles already.“Obviously, I got to give a special shout-out to Denny,” Kyle Larson told the audience. “Nobody in the sport works harder or expects more of themselves. Year after year, he raises the bar and pushes his competitors to be better. He holds himself to a true championship standard, and I think everyone in this room has a ton of respect for that.”Previously, the closest Hamlin has been to winning the ultimate honor was in 2010, when he ended up second behind Jimmie Johnson.
