Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson's crew chief, Cliff Daniels, missed the media day availability ahead of the Championship 4 race. The 312-lap season finale race is scheduled for Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Phoenix Raceway.

Daniels pointed out that the #5 Chevy Camaro ZL1 team had some tire problems during the practice session. The car also hit the wall during the session, and it took longer than expected to fix. Daniels further claimed that he and Larson were locked in to work on the car and lost track of time, hence missing the press session.

Kyle Larson's crew chief later apologized for missing the media day and explained that the #5 driver feels comfortable with the car after the fixes. Reflecting on that, Daniels stated [00:00]:

"Was extended for a little while with the tire issues. Kyle and I were completely locked into what we had going on, and I was looking at the car, and before I knew it, I missed our time. So my apologies for that. Thank you all for accommodating overall for the weekend. I think our team's in a really good spot."

"Kyle feels pretty comfortable in the car. We were looking for a few different things through our practice progression yesterday, trying to find the right look at short-run speed and then capture a runner who really focused on the medium-to long-run pace," he added.

After working on the car, the Hendrick Motorsports crew chief claimed he believes the #5 team is in a reasonable spot. Kyle Larson will compete against his teammate William Byron and Joe Gibbs Racing drivers Chase Briscoe and Denny Hamlin to secure his second Cup Series championship.

"Not feeding too many useless information, just the right amount": Kyle Larson appreciated his crew chief for providing useful information during races

In October 2025, ahead of the Martinsville Speedway, Kyle Larson sat down with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. During the pre-race interaction, Larson praised his crew chief, Cliff Daniels, for providing only useful information over the team radio during race events.

The duo has been together since HMS introduced the #5 Chevy team in 2021. Since then, Daniels has guided Larson through multiple victories and won the 2021 Cup Series championship title with the #5 Chevy driver. They both have worked on their dynamics and found their rhythm.

Reflecting on the same, Kyle Larson appreciated Cliff Daniels and stated:

"I like knowing as much information that I can get. And I've been. Cliff does a really good job being very clear in what he's telling me. Not feeding too many useless information, just the right amount."

"Yeah, I don't know what it's gonna be like this weekend, but I would assume, you know. I'm probably going to be asking questions and hopefully not annoying him. And, uh, hopefully we're leading every lap and it all takes care of itself," he added.

Kyle Larson and Cliff Daniels have logged 26 victories, 76 top fives, 101 top tens, and eight pole positions in 177 starts since 2021. Additionally, Larson has secured 5,000 points this season and ranks fourth in the Cup Series points table.
