Kyle Larson thinks that this year, Hendrick Motorsports has a better shot at winning the NASCAR Cup Series championship than ever before. As things stand, it’s just him and William Byron from the HMS camp going up against the Joe Gibbs Racing duo, Denny Hamlin and Chase Briscoe, in the Championship 4.Larson appeared in a recent interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, where he described exactly why he thought Hendrick Motorsports could bag the ultimate honor. As pointed out by the former Cup champion, the No. 5 team has improved its package for short, flat tracks like Phoenix, where the championship race is being held this coming Sunday. Detailing further on the same, Kyle Larson said,“This is probably the best I've felt about what we're bringing for Final Four compared to any other year. I think finally, in the Next Gen era, we've gotten our short track stuff better, short flat track package better...so yeah.”“We went to Gateway and were super strong. New Hampshire, we were really good, and Phoenix is somewhat similar to those places, so I think we'll have a better opportunity to win a championship than we've ever had in the NextGen era,” Larson added.In 35 starts, Kyle Larson has amassed a total of three wins, 14 top fives, and 21 top-10s. He sits fourth in the championship standings. 2025 marks the fifth consecutive playoff appearance for the 32-time Cup race winner, whose most recent victory came at Kansas Speedway in May 2025.With Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney out of contention, Team Penske’s championship-winning streak has certainly ended. During a media session at Phoenix, the Elk Grove native said,“Sure, we could all probably think up a reason of why there could be an edge that i would have. But we’ll see. I think having won before, I am a champion, so if i win another one, great. If I don’t, I’m still on the list. There’s that. But I don’t think that gives you any sort of competitive advantage.”The 312-lap event is scheduled for this coming Sunday, November 2.
