Jim Pohlman shared his excitement about working with a 'future Hall of Famer' in Kyle Busch. The new crew chief claimed that he's a lot like Busch, but admitted that there might be some spats as they chase race wins.

Pohlman arrives at Richard Childress Racing as a championship-winning crew chief for JR Motorsports driver Justin Allgaier. Notably, the two managed to finish among the top-3 in their three seasons together.

The crew chief is also familiar with the Next Gen car, as he worked in its development at Chip Ganassi Racing. He later moved to RCR and led their research and development during the Next Gen Era's debut year. Moreover, he has worked as crew chief for Austin Dillon and Austin Hill in two Cup races the same year.

Now that he's returning to RCR, Pohlman reiterates his commitment to Kyle Busch.

"We’re probably a lot alike. I haven’t seen his analytical chart as to how his personality is, but having done the crew chief role and reading people, I’d say we’re probably identical. There might be some spats, I’m not going to lie. He’s passionate. I’m passionate. The end goal is that he wants to win races, and he wants to win races at RCR, and he was crystal clear about that. I think I’m most excited about having a future Hall of Fame driver,” he said via Racer.com.

Kyle Busch is in desperate need of new talent to support his Cup racing endeavours. The two-time champion hasn't won a race in two years now, making it the longest streak in his career.

Addressing the news, Busch spoke to the stock car racing association and said,

“It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Pensacola, but I haven’t forgotten how to get around Five Flags. The Snowball Derby is one of those bucket-list races you always want to win again and again, and I’m fired up to be back with the No. 51 Lucas Oil team and FloRacing. We’re showing up to take that trophy home.”

Kyle Busch will pilot the No.51 entry for Bryson Lopez Racing. The Super Late Model Crown Jewel event is scheduled from December 4 to 7, 2025. The Las Vegas native has won two Snowball Derby titles so far. His maiden win came in his second attempt in 2008, while he reached victory lane once again in 2017. It has been five years since he raced at the Florida-based track.
