Josh Berry shared that it 'feels so different' to come back and compete in Late Model racing. The Woods Brothers Racing driver fell short of a win in Sunday afternoon's Thanksgiving Classic at Southern National Motorsports.Berry was vying for his third win at the crown jewel event. The 35-year-old previously won the race back in 2021 and 2022. This time around, Berry drove for Tom Usry Racing and began on the second row behind polesitter Ronnie Bassett Jr. and Matt Cox.However, two faulty restarts and a late-race spin with Lee Pulliam derailed his momentum. He ended up in second place, while Doug Barnes Jr. stormed from his last-place start to win the 250-lap event. In a post-race interview with Matt Weaver, Berry went over the event and said,"It been fun coming doing this, you know it's like once or twice a year is good enough for me at this point, but it's always fun to come back here and just be fast and be competitive and qualify well and race well right, like I always say it, you know, it gets harder and harder every time I come back and do this. It feels so much different, but just to pop in with these guys like that and run as competitive as we did and have a shot at the thing. It's pretty cool." [1:27 onwards]Josh Berry mentioned that transitioning from Cup and Xfinity cars led to some costly errors during the race. He admitted to making a 'mental mistake' when he didn't use the clutch during the first restart.Dale Earnhardt Jr. doubles down on his support for Josh BerryJosh Berry drew flak for spinning out Erik Jones and Carson Hocevar at Sonoma Raceway this year. However, Dale Earnhardt Jr. defended his move against Jones as a retaliatory effort for a previous incident at Chicago.Addressing his bias towards Berry, the Cup Series veteran said(via Youtube/Dale Jr. Download),"Everybody who's sitting here going, 'F*** Dale Jr. and his Josh Berry fandom, of course he's going to tap his back.' You're right. You're absolutely right. Josh is the f***ing man." [39:40 onwards]Earnhardt later admitted that Josh Berry's shunt with Carson Hocevar looked intentional. Berry ended up 13th on the final running order, while Hocevar's top-10 run derailed into a 32nd-place finish.Berry shares a long history with Earnhardt. He ran for JR Motorsports in the Late Model Stock Car division of CARS Tour Series, winning 95 races and two championships.Earnhardt was intrumental in Berry transition to the Cup Series as a full-time driver for Wood Brothers Racing. The No.21 driver met his expectations and won his maiden race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, making it WBR's 101st Cup win.
