Joey Logano failed to defend his title in 2025 season after being knocked out of the championship run in the Round of 8. The streak of winning the championship from 2022 to 2024 ended this season for Team Penske, and Logano admitted that the whole Penske group was not up to their standards this season and needs to work on it.

Speaking to media ahead of the season finale race at Phoenix, Joey Logano admitted that Team Penske’s approach this season wasn’t effective and stressed the need to step back, evaluate their weakness, and make meaningful changes for the 2026 season rather than repeating the same methods and expecting improvement.

“I think it’s important to take a second and take a breather. You’ve got to do something different because what we did wasn’t good enough, so you can’t do the same thing and expect a different outcome. We have to look to do some different things, and how can we approach things differently. How do we approach race weekend? What do we have to do to be faster on the race track?” the 2024 NASCAR champion said (via NASCAR.com).

‘We weren’t good enough, so we have to identify those weaknesses and figure out what to do to change those, and that will happen really quickly,” he added.

“Obviously not everything we hoped for”: Joey Logano reflects on the 2025 campaign

Joey Logano reflected on his 2025 NASCAR season with a mix of disappointment and perspective. The #22 Ford driver understands that his team didn’t achieve their ultimate goal of winning the championship, but he recognized that there were strong performances as well this year.

“Obviously not everything we hoped for. Our goal is to win the championship every year and we fell short of that. Our goals are really high. By the same token, I feel like there were moments of the year we looked really strong. There were moments of the year where we didn’t capitalize on opportunities to win that we could have” Logano said, as quoted by NASCAR.com.

After dominating the NASCAR championship for three consecutive seasons, the Roger Penske-owned team handed the reins to Hendrick Motorsports after Kyle Larson finished P3 ahead of other contenders at Phoenix.
