Austin Hill shared his thoughts on a possible move to the NASCAR Cup Series, saying he would gladly take the opportunity if it presents itself. However, the 31-year-old admitted it wouldn’t be the end of the world if it didn’t happen.Hill started his NASCAR career in the K&N Pro Series East and Craftsman Truck Series before signing with Richard Childress Racing in the Xfinity Series in 2022. He has found success in the #21 RCR Chevrolet as a consistent playoff contender, although he fell short of reaching the Championship 4 this year.Speaking about the chance of racing in NASCAR's top division, the Georgia native said (via RACER Network on X):“For me, I've gotten to an age now where if I didn't make it to the Cup level, it's not going to be the end of the world.”He added:“But I still kind of have that itch where if the right opportunity presents itself and if it was, say, with RCR, it would be a no-brainer for me to make it and go to the Cup level. Even if it's only for a year or two or three years, you give it a shot and see how it is.”A seat in Richard Childress Racing’s Cup Series lineup appears unlikely, as current drivers Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon are under contract through 2026. As such, Austin Hill is expected to remain in the #21 Chevrolet for the foreseeable future. This year, Hill has scored four wins, 13 top-5s, and 17 top-10s. He only managed to reach the Round of 12, while his RCR teammate, Jesse Love, is set to compete for the championship against JR Motorsports drivers Connor Zilisch, Carson Kvapil, and Justin Allgaier at Phoenix Raceway this weekend.“We need to embrace this”: NASCAR Hall of Famer on Austin Hill 'flipping off' fans at TalladegaAfter Austin Hill captured his most recent victory at Talladega Superspeedway a few weeks ago, the Chevrolet driver faced criticism for 'flipping off' fans in the grandstands. However, NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. defended Hill, saying that such moments should be embraced in the sport.Earnhardt Jr., co-owner of JR Motorsports, explained that Hill was merely responding to fans who had already made the same gesture toward him. He said (via the Dale Jr. Download podcast):“He's flipping a guy off and he's looking directly at the camera, and he's responding to some fans who probably, four, two or three dudes with their, you know, in the grandstands are probably sitting there double birding him.” [1:38:41]“And he's just giving it back, and I agree. We need to embrace this to an extent,” he added.Austin Hill drives the #21 Chevrolet Camaro for Richard Childress Racing - Source: ImagnThe win at Talladega marked Austin Hill's tenth career victory on drafting-style tracks, further extending his lead over the previous record of eight held by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart.
