Chevrolet has presented the first look at its reimagined NASCAR Cup body for the 2026 season. The new design closely followed the Camaro ZL1 Carbon Performance Package accessories kit. It included updates to the hood power dome, front grille, and rocker panels on the sides.

Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass shared the new Chevy body on X and reported that Alex Bowman already tested it during a tire test at Bristol this week. The veteran NASCAR reporter also explained that Chevy applied add-ons to the old Camaro design and chose not to build an entirely new model for Cup.

The Camaro's regular production was halted after 2023, but NASCAR has improved the model's body style. GM wanted a more competitive silhouette for 2026. So, it updated the race car to have a larger hood power dome. The front grille also has a revised shape, and the rocker panels sit higher. The package also added a carbon-fiber hood insert, rockers, a ZL1 1LE-style grille, and a more aggressive splitter.

"Chevrolet no longer has Camaro in production but NASCAR is grandfathering in body style. Chevy wanted some changes to be more competitive. So using an accessory package (where u can get add-ons to a Camaro) that changes body a little bit that has allowed them to change Cup body," Bob Pockrass wrote on X.

The updated racecar body will make its debut during the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium in February next year.

Chevy "working on what's next" for NASCAR Cup Series

Chevrolet has used 14 different models and recorded 881 top-level wins over more than 70 years in NASCAR. The manufacturer has collected 34 driver championships and 44 manufacturer titles.

However, it is unclear whether the Camaro or a different Chevrolet model will appear in NASCAR in later years. The automaker said that it was working on its future NASCAR plans.

"While we do not comment on future products, we can assure you we are working on what's next for Chevrolet in NASCAR. Again, our commitment to competing in NASCAR remains steadfast," Chevy said in a statement, via NASCAR.com.

Chevy was not behind in wins this year. They won the manufacturer's championship when Hendrick Motorsports' Kyle Larson took his second NASCAR Cup title at Phoenix earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Trackhouse Racing No. 88 Chevy driver Shane van Gisbergen dominated five road/street course races. Larson and his HMS teammate William Byron each had three wins this season. Chevy's four other wins were by Chase Elliott (two), Ross Chastain, and Austin Dillon.

However, fans were not too happy with the latest subtle changes in the car and criticized the visual tweaks.
