Three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano recently appeared in an event in Huntersville, North Carolina, with his head completely shaven, leaving his fans surprised and confused. Many wondered if the Mustang maestro was okay.Logano posted a video on X addressing the situation. He spoke about his underlying health condition, alopecia areata, which has been causing him to lose hair.“I got a bunch of text messages and DMs lately about my new haircut and a lot of people are concerned if I was okay,” Logano said. “First off, I appreciate everyone asking if I was okay. I am fine, I am perfectly healthy. Just wanted to get a haircut at the end of the season.“I have alopecia,” Logano continued. “I’ve had it for a long time now. So when we were cutting it, it was all flared up, and so it’s all spotty, and so we just kept cutting it. Now I got a new do. I’m good, like I said.”Joey Logano is a 37-time winner in the Cup Series, tied with Brad Keselowski for 23rd on the all-time wins list. He wrapped up his 2025 season with a win at Texas Motor Speedway, besides seven top fives and 13 top-10s.Logano was unable to defend his 2024 Cup Series title this past season, but he advanced to the Round of 8. The Middletown, Connecticut, native finished seventh in the standings.Logano will be back in the No. 22 Penske Mustang for the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray, scheduled for February 1, 2026. However, the first points race of the 2026 season is the Daytona 500 on February 15, 2026.Joey Logano comments on NASCAR’s changing championship formatJoey Logano had always been a supporter of the elimination-style, 10-race system used from 2014 to 2025. It’s under this system that the 35-year-old won all three of his NASCAR Cup championships. But Logano wasn't too worried, as he thought he would eventually have to adapt to any potential changes. In a recent interview with Donut Media, Logano further explained his stance, saying (via Yardbarker):“I liked where it was, but I’m gonna like where we go, too. I’m OK with whatever they do, just tell me the rules and then we gotta go figure out a way to win. It’s not my job to complain about what we have or what we’re gonna have."“My job is to say ‘OK, this is the rules, let’s figure out the strategy to win this thing. Like, how do we do that.’ I don’t really care what it is, just tell me what it is so then we can focus on doing that,” he added.NASCAR has formed a playoff committee to determine what championship format it should introduce for the 2026 season. Some have voted for a full-season points format, while others said they wanted a modified version of the usual 10-race championship.
