Richard Childress Racing driver Jesse Love conquered the NASCAR Xfinity Championship race at Phoenix Raceway. The 20-year-old beat three JR Motorsports drivers for his maiden title. In the post-race media interaction, Love was questioned about his possible response to social media's reaction to him winning the title over Zilisch. The JRM driver Zilisch was the dominant driver season-long with 10 wins in his rookie campaign. However, he failed to capitalize on the winner-takes-all race in Arizona. The No. 2 Chevy driver said (via Bob Pockrass):"Well, I really don't give a sh*t what people think. I get a big old trophy, I get a nice check, I get a lot of things that come out of this."Despite securing the NASCAR title with only his second win of the season compared to Connor Zilisch's 10 victories, Jesse Love acknowledged the criticism surrounding the legitimacy of his championship. Love stated that while the comments don't affect him, he does not "devalue" the fan's sentiment."So, their opinions are valid. Obviously, the world would be kind of a boring place if we all agreed on everything, and that's never going to happen. So, yeah, I'm going to look at it, I don't really care at the end of the day, but I still like to be a part of, I guess, a circle of life and see how people react to certain things. And I have my thoughts on it, and they're going to have theirs, and that doesn't bother me at all.""We were never the best car": Connor Zilisch opens after Jesse Love's NASCAR championship winNASCAR Xfinity Series HyVee Perks 250 - Qualifying - Source: GettyAfter struggling with speed early on, Jesse Love's crew engineered crucial mid-race improvements. This led to him making a decisive pass on the No. 88 car with 25 laps to go and holding off his best friend, Connor Zilisch, right up to the checkered flag.In a post-race conversation, Zilisch shared his thoughts about not having the "best car" among the Championship 4 contenders like teammate Justin Allgaier and RCR driver Love. He said (via Racing America):"I don't really know what we fought, but I feel like every run we were the second-best car. Whether it was Justin [Allgaier] or Jesse [Love], we just never were the best car."Furthermore, Zilisch was asked if he feels any better watching his best mate Love take the title home. He said:"No, it doesn't make it feel any better. No. Good for Jesse, I'm really happy for him. Yeah, no."After 33 starts this season, Jesse Love managed two wins, nine top-fives, and 20 top-10 finishes with an average start of 9.094 and finish of 11.375.
