NHRA racers Tony Stewart and Leah Pruett welcomed their son, Dominic James Stewart, on November 16 last year, and the couple celebrated their son's first birthday with animal-themed cakes this weekend.

Pruett marked Dominic's first birthday with a post from Pomona on Instagram. She shared photos of a small "Wild One" celebration and wrote:

"Sure Dominic won't remember his 1st Birthday Party but we all sure will. And he'll look back and see how loved he is by people that have watched him grow up all year long. It's been non stop raining here in Pomona for two days, so no qualifying has been had. Glad we could bring some fun to these slow days. Thanks everyone for showing up."

Stewart and Pruett married in November 2021. They met before the pandemic and grew closer during the lockdown. The former NASCAR Cup champion filled in for Pruett in the Top Fuel dragster in 2024 after she stepped away from full-time competition.

Dominic was born during the NHRA finale weekend while Stewart was qualifying in Pomona last season. Pruett went into labor in Phoenix and, after nailing a solid qualifying run, Stewart flew to Arizona in time for his son's arrival. He traveled back to California to compete in the drag racing finale.

This Saturday, qualifying for the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals was canceled due to weather.

Tony Stewart's NHRA future uncertain as wife Leah Pruett returns to her Top Fuel ride at TSR

Tony Stewart sits fifth in Top Fuel, 243 points behind leader Doug Kalitta, ahead of the final race of the 2025 NHRA season. The six-race countdown to the Championship will end this Sunday at the Pomona Dragstrip. Stewart's teammate Matt Hagan sits second in Funny Car in his 13th straight season.

Meanwhile, Pruett, who is a 12-time Top Fuel winner, will get back behind the wheel for the 2026 NHRA season with Tony Stewart Racing (TSR). During a September episode of the Dale Jr. Download podcast, Stewart commented on Pruett's return to racing.

"I'm excited to see Leah get back in a race car. She's done such an amazing job of becoming a mother and going through a whole year of pregnancy and our first year with Dominic. I know deep down inside that she wants to drive that race car really bad, so I'm just excited to see her get that opportunity again," Tony Stewart said.

Stewart's plans for 2026 are still up in the air. The 54-year-old said that his team, TSR, was not in a position to add a second Top Fuel car, so he signed a contract with Elite Motorsports for the upcoming season. However, he still needs to get a sponsor to race full-time.
