Former NASCAR driver Hailie Deegan's 19-year-old brother, Haiden, who competes for Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha, recently stepped up to participate in the 450cc class at the world stage with WSX.
During the FIM World Supercross Championship, Haiden overtook veteran rider and his idol, Eli Tomac, during the final race. Recalling how the moment left him wide-eyed and exhilarated during a post-race interview, he said:
"I'm just going to say this. I was battling Eli Tomac, and I was like a little kid. I was in shock the whole time. I was like, 'I just passed Eli Tomac. I just passed Eli Tomac.' I was tripping the whole time. ... It was bada**,"
Hailie shared the interview on her Instagram story and reacted with clapping-hands emojis:
"👏👏"

Before Australia, Haiden swept the Ironman National and won AMA Supercross and Motocross championships in the 250cc class this year.
The FIM Australian Grand Prix included 33-year-old wild card rider and Haiden's hero, Tomac. The final race of the night went to AMA Supercross racer Christian Craig after he topped Haiden at the finish line by about 5.5 seconds.
Haiden finished 6th in Sprint 1, crashed out while running second in the second race, and bounced back impressively to finish 2nd in the Main Event after passing Tomac. Overall, he landed 3rd place for the night in the 450-class standings (with a 6-16-2 result line across the three races).
Meanwhile, Hailie Deegan, who spent 2025 racing in INDY NXT with HMD Motorsports, struggled to find pace once again.
Hailie Deegan's 2026 plans remain up in the air
Hailie Deegan drove the No. 38 car in the full 14-race schedule. Her debut season in open-wheel racing proved to be a steep learning curve. She made her debut at St. Petersburg and finished 14th. Her best finish was 11th place at Laguna Seca Raceway.
Deegan left the NASCAR Xfinity Series mid-season in 2024 after 17 races with AM Racing. The partnership ended with her average finish standing around 26.8 and only a handful of top-20s. The 24-year-old is now rumored to return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2026. According to some reports, she might get back behind the wheel if she lands proper sponsorship or a good team ride.
She could return to ThorSport Racing or strike a new deal with Niece Motorsports or Kaulig Racing. Kaulig is expanding its operations with a Ram-backed five-truck lineup for 2026, one of which will open for a free agent ride.
However, no team has confirmed a deal, and Deegan has not announced plans for 2026.
