Jesse Love predicted that, after watching him debut in the Dunlop Super2 Series, other NASCAR drivers would follow in his footsteps. His comments surfaced on Supercars’ YouTube channel last Thursday, shortly after the opening practice sessions.
Love, who will be driving the #57 Holden Commodore ZB for Image Racing, is aware of the learning curve that lies ahead of him. However, he also believes that watching him make his maiden Dunlop Super2 Series start at the 2025 Adelaide Grand Final will influence several Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series drivers, making them want to do it as well. Explaining the same, Love said (7:20 onwards),
“I'm sure that there is 25 Cup, Xfinity and Truck drivers watching this weekend that want to be where...what I'm doing this weekend. So I'm sure that now that I've finally done it, and I'm probably one of the first guys that come over and do it, that there's going to be kind of a flood of NASCAR guys wanting to come over here and do it now. They know it’s possible.”
Besides Jesse Love, NASCAR Cup Series regular Austin Cindric is also spending his off-season Down Under for the final two races of 2025. The Team Penske driver will pilot the No. 5 Ford Mustang for Tickford Racing.
On the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts (previously known as the Xfinity Series) side of things, all eyes are on the United Rentals 300, which will be held at the iconic Daytona International Speedway on February 14, 2026. The 120-lap race will mark the first points event of the 2026 season.
Love will stay with Richard Childress Racing as the driver of its No. 2 entry for the 2026 season. Backed by Whelen Engineering, the 20-year-old speedster is expected to defend his 2025 series title.
Jesse Love reveals who he approached for advice ahead of his Super2 debut
There was an unlikely face offering mentorship to Jesse Love ahead of the latter’s Super2 debut. It’s none other than Broc Feeney, a title contender for the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship. Others contesting for the title are Chaz Mostert, Will Brown, and Kai Allen.
Although Feeney has driven the Gen2 car for just one season, he knows what it takes to win in Adelaide in a ZB Commodore. He won the final race of the previous era: the 2022 Adelaide 500. During the entire experience Love seems to have become friends with Feeney.
“Me and Broc have become decent friends over the last couple of months leading up to this, so it's been cool to see how he's managed his mindset, and he looks really calm and cool and collected,” Jesse Love said of Feeney. “I'm definitely pulling for Broc this weekend, hopefully he can get it done.”
The practice sessions are now over. Love finished 22nd in both segments and qualified 19th for Saturday’s race. For the following day’s event, Love will start in P22 because the qualifying session was cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions.
