Last Thursday, NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Preece entered a two-day Goodyear tire test at Bristol Motor Speedway. The Cup Series will hit the 0.533-mile track twice next season, with its first visit scheduled for April 12, 2026. And the testing session was meant to ensure that the teams dial in an optimal setup for those visits.Per reports, there were three teams testing that day at Bristol Motor Speedway, one from each car manufacturer in the NASCAR Cup Series. Preece, who drives the No. 60 Ford Mustang for RFK Racing, was representing Ford. 500 laps into the segment, the 35-year-old shared his experience and said (via Toby Christie on X),“We just got done testing here at Bristol Motor Speedway. I feel like I did 500 laps. It was pretty cold where we were, but yeah, all done for Day 1 at Bristol. Feel like finding the right direction, so, excited about it.”Others participating in the session were Bubba Wallace from 23XI Racing (Toyota) and Alex Bowman from Hendrick Motorsports (Chevrolet). The drivers were looking for greater tire fall-off but not so much as the excessive wear from the series’ most recent event at Bristol, the 2025 Bass Pro Shops Night race, which took place on September 13.Furthermore, NASCAR and Goodyear tried finding a more temperature-neutral setup for the Cup cars while testing its new 750-horsepower package, which will be used on road courses and tracks less than 1.5 miles in 2026.Ryan Preece, one of the three full-time drivers that RFK Racing fields in the Cup Series, just wrapped up his maiden season with the North Carolina-based outfit after previously driving the No. 41 car for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2024. This season, Preece finished 18th in points, with three top fives and 14 top-10s to his name.“I’m excited for that”- Ryan Preece pinpoints “exciting” aspect of RFK’s 2026 championship bidRFK Racing finished the 2025 season strong with Brad Keselowski bagging a P2 at Phoenix and Ryan Preece finishing ninth. Chris Buescher, their other teammate, finished 12th in a 38-car field. However, none of them made the playoffs this year, not even team owner-driver Brad Keselowski, the 2012 NASCAR Cup Series champion. This was especially frustrating for Preece and everyone on the No. 60 team. The 35-year-old speedster said (via NASCAR.com),“We're all frustrated we didn't make the playoffs, but there's a ton of potential between all three of us, and I'm excited for that. For me, it was probably a change in mindset as well as a great group of people that came together and are working on accomplishing the goal."Next up for Ryan Preece is the 68th running of the famed Daytona 500, which is also going to be the first points race of the 2026 season. Scheduled for February 15, 2026, the crown jewel event will be televised live on FOX Sports.
