Skinner held the record of leading the most laps in a single season with 1533 laps, which he set in 1996. The record was untouched since the 2025 season. Heim was six laps behind, breaking the record ahead of the season finale race. Later, he broke the record, along with taking home his maiden Truck Series championship title.

Also, Corey Heim became the first driver in all three NASCAR series to lead a lap in every race in a season. Heim dominated the Phoenix race and led 100 laps in the 161-lap race. He crossed the finish line 0.993 seconds ahead of his championship rival and the defending champion, Ty Majeski.

Reflecting on the Tricon Garage driver's dominant performance, NASCAR analyst Jeff Gluck wrote:

"Get this: Corey Heim has now completed an incredible feat and led at least one lap in every race. He also just broke Mike Skinner's single-season laps led record (set in 1996)."
"Per @NASCARInsights, Heim is the first driver to lead every race in a season for any series in a NASCAR national series," he added.

"This is terrible man": Corey Heim lost his temper after a pit stop incident during the Phoenix race

Tricon Garage driver Corey Heim had a bit of a tense moment during the championship race at Phoenix Raceway. The season finale race was held on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the one-mile paved track.

Despite starting the race from sixth place, Heim dominated stages one and two of the race. The #11 Toyota Tundra driver gained the lead on lap 22 of the initial stage and wrapped the 45-lap stage in P1. He then claimed the lead back from Rajah Caruth on lap 55 in stage two and won the stage.

However, during the final stage of the 161-lap race, Ty Majeski beat Corey Heim on the pit road exit and took the lead. Recalling the moment, the Tricon Garage driver lost his cool and expressed his frustration over the team radio:

Heim clinched his maiden Truck Series title in his fifth year in the series. Previously, he came close to winning the title in 2023 and 2024, where he finished fourth and second, nearly missing the championship title.
