This is just such a cool place for me," Corey Day said via usacracing.com.Veteran dirt star and 2025 NASCAR Cup champion, Kyle Larson, started 14th in qualifying and did not land inside the top five in the main event.Joe Gibbs Racing's Bell was the last driver to have two back-to-back wins. In 2017, Bell held off a strong field, including Larson, in the 98-lap feature at Ventura. He called the race "one of the most fun." He also beat Larson for the win in 2018.Meanwhile, Day also became the youngest of 10 two-time winners in the history of the Turkey Night Grand Prix this weekend. He had celebrated his 20th birthday just the day before his second win."You've got to get seat time" - Corey Day reveals 'the biggest thing' that helped him land first HMS full-time NASCAR O'Reilly ride in over 20 yearsCorey Day raced part-time in the Truck and O'Reilly Series this season and managed to grab five top-10 finishes in a total of 20 starts in the two national series. He will join HMS in the No. 17 Chevy as the team's first full-time O'Reilly driver after Kyle Busch in the mid-2000s.Day, who made his Truck Series debut just last year in September, recently argued that real experience is far more valuable than just simulations or video study."You've got to get seat time. That's like the biggest thing. You can sim your life away and study video and data and all the stuff as much as you can, but until you go get the real-world experience and feel it, it's hard to progress," Corey Day said (via Speedway Digest).Day added that rotating through many cars in 2025 helped him learn fast. He explained that studying and reviewing data have limits and that actual laps on track give the full picture. That mindset helped him prepare for a full 2026 season at Hendrick Motorsports, which starts on 14th February 2026.
