NASCAR insider Mamba Smith reacted to an image of Joey Logano that recently surfaced on X. Logano, who has an autoimmune condition called alopecia areata that causes him to lose hair in patches, was fully bald in the picture, which has been viewed over 530,000 times.Smith said it’s not right for people to make fun of Logano.“I think that anyone that makes fun of Joey for being bald is a part of the societal problem… He has alopecia. Imagine being a kid going through the same thing and seeing a champion athlete get bullied for it. Not exactly positive messaging for them.”Back when Joey Logano won the 2018 Cup Series title, he had a full head of hair. However, when he entered the 2022 season, his hairline had started to thin out a bit. In 2024, he joined forces with HairClub to promote a non-surgical hair replacement system on social media.Logano was fully bald at a recent event in Huntersville, North Carolina. This was less than three weeks after the 2025 NASCAR championship race at Phoenix Raceway.Logano previously spoke about his condition, saying he expected more people to ask him about it.“It's fairly obvious, and it will become more obvious, most likely," he was quoted as saying by The Daily Express. "It's funny no one is comfortable enough asking about it, which is kind of weird to me. I’m the kind of person who would see something and be like, 'Hey man, you OK?' Some people don't say a word about it, but I know they’re looking.”Logano is currently in his off-season. Next up for the Middletown, Connecticut, native is the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium. Scheduled for February 1, the 200-lap exhibition event will mark the beginning of the 2026 season.“The playoffs create drama” - Joey Logano defends NASCAR’s points formatJoey Logano has always been a supporter of NASCAR’s elimination-style playoffs format. Under the current format, he won the 2018, 2022, and 2025 NASCAR Cup Series championships.According to him, the current playoff format creates “drama” and “storylines”.“It creates awesome moments like that. I don't understand what people don't like about it. I really don't get it," the Penske driver said.NASCAR was expected to change its playoff system for the 2026 season. However, new reports suggest that the governing body is leaning towards leaving it unchanged. That being said, the final decision is yet to be made.Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal wrote on X:“NASCAR informed some team executives before the end of the 2025 season that retaining a playoff was the most likely outcome of its championship system review, according to people familiar with the matter, but its final decision remains unclear.”For now, all eyes are on Bowman Gray Stadium for the February 1 event. However, the first points race of the season will be held two weeks later at the iconic Daytona International Speedway. Named the Daytona 500, it will mark the 68th running of the crown jewel event.
