Joe Rogan didn’t dodge Ronda Rousey’s recent jab questioning his fight expertise while speaking about her on a recent episode of his podcast with Jeff Dye.
Rogan was discussing Rousey’s dominance and downfall when the topic shifted to her belief that the UFC color commentator is not an expert in fighting. Rogan acknowledged the comments, saying it stems from her “champion mentality."
That being said, he also reminded listeners that analysis is part of his job. He said that while Rousey might not see him as an expert, he’s spent decades studying fighters, patterns, and evolution inside the octagon.
The conversation stemmed from Dye arguing that she excelled at a time when women’s MMA was still developing. Rogan disagreed, calling her a legitimate pioneer who forced the UFC to open its doors to women.

Speaking on episode #2410 of The Joe Rogan Experience, he said:
"I mean, I got nothing but love and respect for that lady. What she did was so impressive. She was the first legitimate female superstar. She made the UFC female division possible. If it wasn’t for her, Dana was very open about never having female UFC fighters. It took someone that dynamic, that special, to open his eyes and go, 'You know what? I think this lady’s a star.'”
He added:
"And to be that type, like, when she said I wasn’t an expert... Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, you know? But you gotta understand why she thinks like that... She has a champion mentality. You never fought, you ain’t sh*t. It’s real simple... I get it. It’s totally fine. You can’t judge her."

Joe Rogan talks about Ronda Rousey’s downfall
Joe Rogan revisited Ronda Rousey’s fall from dominance, saying fame may have played a bigger role than anyone realized. He reflected on how her rapid rise turned her into a global celebrity, which eventually pulled her away from the discipline that made her unbeatable.
Rogan explained that Rousey’s Olympic pedigree and unmatched armbar made her unstoppable early on. However, Hollywood distractions seemingly dulled her edge. Speaking in the aforementioned episode of his podcast, Rogan said:
"Also, the problem in that fight against Holly Holm, I think for Ronda, is when you start becoming really famous, then the hyenas show up, and they start offering you this and offering you that, and distracting you with this and distracting you with that. And now you’re going to meetings, and you’re talking to agents, and you’re setting up movies... And all those things take away from the most important thing, which is your fighting. Even if they don’t take away from the amount of training you do, they take away from your focus."
