Round 1

Almeida wastes no time and shoots in deep and secures the takedown. He drives Volkov to the mat. He immediately advances to side control, looking to flatten Volkov and control his hips. Almeida tries to slide his right knee across to transition into full mount or half-guard top, but Volkov traps the leg, locking up a loose triangle guard from the bottom. That’s keeping Almeida from fully settling into a dominant position or setting up for a submission attempt. Volkov is heavy on top of Almeida thanks to a beautiful scramble. He's on top of Almedia now, as he lands a few punches.

Round 2

Almeida is cautious on the entry now, but he lands a good overhand right. He takes Volkov down and ends up in his guard. He's landing strong shots from the top now. He briefly takes Volkov's back and threatens with a submission attempt. The referee stands them up after a brief moment of inactivity. Almedia takes him down again almost immediately. Volkov tries to lock in a kimura lock, but Almeida is wise to his advances.

Volkov pressures Almeida against the fence, and the Brazilian immediately shoots for a takedown. Volkov reverses the position and gets him in a clinch to land a few good knees. Almeida blasts for a takedown and gets him on the ground. He's pressuring Volkov from the top to land some punches. Volkov tries to sink in a triangle choke. He takes Volkov's back as he tries to get up. He keeps the fight on the ground and finishes on top of Volkov.
