Jon Jones recently made fun of Tom Aspinall, which caught the attention of MMA fans across the globe.

For context, Aspinall's first defense of his undisputed heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 resulted in a no contest when the former interim champion landed an illegal eye poke, leaving Aspinall unable to continue. Many targeted the Brit, including Jones. The UFC legend arrived on a horse, who was wearing an eye patch at the recent DBX 4 weigh-ins in Nashville, Tennessee. He said:

''Gotta do it right. We got the beautiful horse with the eye patch on, we're having a good night."

''The facts are Tom Aspinall suffered a double eye poke in the first round of his title defence. And Jon Jones strung the UFC along and turned down a 20m offer because he is a duck.''

''Ya. This goes deeper than “trolling” and “rage bait” It’s a fundamental flaw of us all trying to prop up a fighter, and him flipping the bird on every fan, every supporter and the sport and martial arts themselves''

Jones was expected to face Aspinall in a title unification bout when the 32-year-old held the interim belt. However, the former two-division champion took on Stipe Miocic instead at UFC 309 last year and secured a third-round knockout win. 'Bones' eventually retired earlier this year after seemingly avoiding a fight with Aspinall, who was then promoted as the new undisputed champion by Dana White.

MMA legend talks about Jon Jones' potential UFC return

Jon Jones is interested in making his octagon comeback in a heavyweight matchup against Alex Pereira on the UFC White House card next year. Notably, the Brazilian is also ready to face Jones in a superfight.

In a recent episode of the JAXXON podcast, Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson gave his take on Jones' chances against Pereira:

''I don’t think there’s anybody out there that can really beat Jon Jones. Jon Jones is very intelligent with his decision-making of who he fights and his opponents...He knows what type of fight he’ll take to Alex Pereira. He’s not going to stand and bang with him. He doesn’t care about the entertainment, he cares about his legacy only.'' [1:23:00 of the video]
