Jack and his team just didn't look prepared. I don't know if anyone told them they had a world title defence. They should be ashamed for the preparation, in my opinion."Lauding Makhachev's performance, he said:"I thought it was clean. He did what he needed to do against someone who I thought was gonna cause him problems... Islam looked phenomenal everywhere. I thought he was clean and crisp... I think he was just having fun."Ian Machado Garry on Kamaru Usman potentially facing Islam Makhachev nextIan Machado Garry recently shared his thoughts on Kamaru Usman potentially being Islam Makhachev's first title defense as the new welterweight champion. The Irishman made it clear that he wasn't supportive of 'The Nigerian Nightmare' getting a title shot and explained his stance. At the UFC Qatar media day, Garry slammed the idea of Usman facing Makhachev next and said:"Do I think the champion of the world, one of the pound-for-pound best in the world should fight a has-been, someone who used to be great but isn't great anymore? No. Where is he now in the rankings? Eight or nine? The last fight he had was against a guy who had like seven losses in the UFC? No. Islam Makhachev is a phenomenal fighter, and he needs to fight one of the young, up-and-coming contenders, not a has-been who has no knees."He continued:"If I were Islam, I would want to fight Kamaru Usman, too, because it's an easy paycheck, it's an easy win, it's an easy way for me to get my first title defense at welterweight."
