Khamzat Chimaev recently shared a massive update on his future in the UFC middleweight division.Chimaev is among the biggest names in the UFC today and is known for his incredible grappling prowess. The undefeated Chechen-born fighter is coming off an impressive unanimous decision win over Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319 in August, where he won the middleweight championship. He's now looking to make one title defense before moving up to the 205-pound division. In an interview with ESPN MMA, Chimaev confirmed his intention to compete at light heavyweight and named his next potential opponent at middleweight. He said:"In my weight class, whoever. There is [Nassourdine] Imavov, there is [Sean] Strickland, [Anthony] Hernandez, whoever. All of them, I see a big check, good money. There are a lot of options. But I want to, for sure, one more fight, I’m going to go one more weight class up. One more fight and I want to go up next weight class."Chimaev has notably called out light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira for a super fight and has expressed his willingness to move up to heavyweight as well. The Chechen-born fighter recently slammed Pereira for seemingly dismissing his callout and claimed that the UFC didn't want to book them for a fight.Khamzat Chimaev addresses potential Nassourdine Imavov fightIn the same interview, Khamzat Chimaev got honest about a potential fight against Nassourdine Imavov. Imavov is notably the No.2-ranked contender in the middleweight division and is coming off an impressive unanimous decision win over Caio Borralho at UFC Paris in September.Given Imavov's resume and five-fight win streak, many consider the Dagestan-born Frenchman deserving of a title shot against Chimaev. The two have notably trained together in the past. While Chimaev has some reservations about fighting Imavov, he made it clear that he wouldn't turn down a fight against him, saying:"He’s a good guy. I know him, he knows me, we know each other. If you ask me, I don’t want to fight this guy, because we know each other... Dagestan and Chechen people, a lot of drama on the internet, all these things I don’t like about it, but if the UFC wants it, never gonna say no. If the guy wants it, I will tell his manager as well, 'Brother, if Nassourdine wants, I will be open.' If he says he can’t wait until I move up, I will be waiting. I’m not gonna say no. For me, it doesn’t matter. Whatever he decides, the UFC decides, we’ll see." [H/t: MMA Fighting]
