BJJ royalty Lachlan Giles of Australia is always coming up with innovative moves, and he’s looking to debut another one in his upcoming match with fellow legend Marcelo Garcia.
‘Giant Killer’ will take his talents to the global stage this Friday, Dec. 5, against arguably the greatest BJJ practitioner in a highly anticipated lightweight submission grappling showdown at ONE Fight Night 38 on Prime Video.
Giles has built his legacy on devastating leg lock mastery. His fearsome heel hooks powered his legendary run at the 2019 ADCC World Championship, finishing with a bronze medal after submitting multiple massive opponents.
While the 39-year-old will once again deploy his killer K-Guard and intricate leg entanglement system, he teased a new submission that he’ll try to pull off against Garcia.

Giles shared his new move on The FloGrappling Show:
"I've got a new foot lock I do that no one else does, but I think it's pretty good. I've put a few clips up online. It's very similar to a Mikey lock, but slightly different. I'll just name it after myself instead. The Lach Leg."

Lachlan Giles wary of Marcelo Garcia's north-south choke
While Lachlan Giles will be bringing the 'Lach Leg' at ONE Fight Night 38, he must also find a way to defend against Marcelo Garcia's fundamental brilliance.
The 39-year-old will be watching out for Garcia's punishing north-south choke, which he used to submit Masakazu Imanari last January.
"It's definitely less used [the North South Choke]. Marcelo seems highly effective at getting the finish with it, whereas you don't see too many other grapplers who can hit it with as much consistency. I think he just spent so long doing it and developing it that it requires a lot of time invested to get the finish," Giles said in the same vlog post.
