Former UFC star Derek Brunson recently disagreed with Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier's take on the nature of the Petr Yan vs. Merab Dvalishvili fight and lauded the Russian fighter for putting on a "clinic."Yan and Dvalishvili went up against each other in an exciting bantamweight title rematch in the main event of UFC 323 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. In their first encounter at UFC Fight Night 221 in March 2023, Dvalishvili dominated Yan over five rounds to win via unanimous decision.Given how their previous fight went, many expected Dvalishvili to push Yan to his limits again on Saturday. However, 'No Mercy' displayed a masterclass against 'The Machine' and dominated the fight over five rounds to become a two-time UFC bantamweight champion via unanimous decision.During the bout, it appears veteran UFC commentators Rogan and Cormier suggested that the Yan-Dvalishvili fight was a closely contested affair. In an X post, Brunson disagreed with their take and wrote:"'DC' and Rogan talking about that was a close fight. We must’ve watched 2 different fights! That was a clinic Yan put on! #UFC323."Yan is now on a four-fight winning streak and has an impressive professional record of 20-5. The 32-year-old Russian fighter also holds the record for the most significant strikes landed in UFC bantamweight history.Meanwhile, Dvalishvili's incredible 14-fight win streak came to an end. If he had won this fight, the Georgian-born wrestling savant would have made history as the first UFC champion ever to secure four title defenses in one calendar year.Dvalishvili notably called for a trilogy fight against Yan in his post-fight octagon interview (via @ChampRDS on X) and said:"I tried to [put on] an entertaining fight, and I lost today... Congratulations to him, but I want a rematch. I want to run it back... I'm not making any excuse... I just tried to make the fight entertaining... He was a better fighter today."
