Confidence isn't built through positive thinking alone, and Thai martial arts icon Superbon knows exactly whose career proves it.

The undisputed ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion pointed to fellow Thai legend Nong-O Hama as the perfect example of how relentless dedication transforms setbacks into championship success.

During his appearance on The ONE Podcast Episode 37 alongside Nong-O, the Superbon Training Camp founder was asked about Superlek's recent form after 'The Kicking Machine' suffered his second successive setback inside the Circle to Yuki Yoza at ONE 173 in Tokyo, Japan.

As the 35-year-old pointed out what changes Superlek needs to implement to regain his momentum, the Bangkok-based fighter took the opportunity to use Nong-O's legendary run as an example of why setbacks are merely a stepping stone to greatness.

"Let's take Nong-O as an example. Nong-O has lost countless times and still comes back fighting like himself. If you're still not confident, you must practice harder. If we practice, our confidence will come from our intentions and diligence in practice. It doesn't come from belief, it comes from action," he shared.

The 38-year-old former longtime ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion built his legendary career not through undefeated perfection, but through the resilience to absorb losses and return stronger.

His successful ONE world title defenses between 2019 and 2022 came after years of grinding through Thailand's brutal Muay Thai circuit, accumulating defeats that would have broken lesser fighters.

Superbon praises Masaaki Noiri's grit during Tokyo slugfest

Though Superlek had a night to forget in Tokyo earlier this month, all went perfectly well on Superbon's end.

The Thai warrior dished out a solid attacking plan across five rounds to successfully unify the ONE featherweight kickboxing world title against Masaaki Noiri.

He, however, acknowledged during the post-event press conference that his Japanese opponent's toughness was just as good as advertised.

"I'm not surprised [by Masaaki Noiri's] courage. He looked very tough, and he's really tough in the ring. He had it big for me. He [took] a lot of damage from me, and he was still standing there, never backed down," the 35-year-old told members of the media inside the Japanese capital.
