“She is the best” - Stamp Fairtex on why she took the fight with Kana at ONE 173 in Tokyo

Former ONE atomweight MMA world champion Stamp Fairtex of Thailand believes Kana Morimoto is the perfect opponent for her return to competition.

After two years on the sidelines rehabbing a torn meniscus, the 27-year-old megastar’s long-awaited comeback will take place at ONE 173 in Tokyo.

On November 16, Stamp returns to her striking roots in a three-round atomweight kickboxing affair with ‘Krusher Queen’ at Ariake Arena.

Stamp, who’s coming off a career-threatening injury, did not choose an easy opponent whatsoever for her comeback fight.

Instead, she’ll face a four-time K-1 Champion in front of the devoted Japanese fans.

Despite the tricky task at hand, Stamp wouldn’t have it any other way.

The three-sport queen told ONE Championship:

"The reason I accepted the fight with Kana is that I feel she is the best in kickboxing in Tokyo, in Japan. I feel it's a challenge. Whether I win or lose, there's no harm in fighting her. I feel that fighting someone great is always a good thing.”

Kana possesses lightning-quick hands and dangerous kicks and will no doubt be energized by the crowd, which adds another layer of difficulty for Stamp.

However, the Thai megastar has never taken an easy fight, and that mentality won’t change despite her injury.

Like her fellow Japanese fighters, Kana Morimoto boasts an incredible kicking repertoire, which she displayed in her impressive run in the home of martial arts.

The former ONE atomweight MMA queen told ONE Championship:

"Her most dangerous weapons, I feel, are probably her punches and the calf kicks she has, because all Japanese fighters have those. I’m only scared of one move, the spinning back kick."
