Luke Lessei didn't need convincing when ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong offered him a showdown with one of the division's most feared strikers.

The American Muay Thai maestro faces No.4-ranked featherweight Muay Thai contender Nico Carrillo at ONE Fight Night 37 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Their featherweight Muay Thai battle takes place live in U.S. primetime this Friday, November 7.

In a pre-fight interview with ONE Championship, 'The Chef' revealed how his clash with 'King of the North' came together through communication with the promotion's head honcho.

"What happened was like, my last fight was January. I was trying to get a fight staying in the gym, that whole thing. And then I had ended up in direct contact with Chatri. And then he was like, 'dude, you want to fight?' Like and I'm like, ASAP. And then he said, 'All right, you can fight Nico.' And I was like, 'Say less, I will,'" Luke Lessei recalled.

The Iowa native rides momentum from his first-round TKO of Canadian slugger Cody Jerome at ONE Fight Night 27 this past January, and his willingness to face the 27-year-old Glaswegian knockout machine demonstrates supreme confidence in his abilities.
