"What happened was like, my last fight was January. I was trying to get a fight staying in the gym, that whole thing. And then I had ended up in direct contact with Chatri. And then he was like, 'dude, you want to fight?' Like and I'm like, ASAP. And then he said, 'All right, you can fight Nico.' And I was like, 'Say less, I will,'" Luke Lessei recalled.

Luke Lessei faces toughest test yet in Nico Carrillo

Though Luke Lessei's eagerness to accept the fight shows confidence, Nico Carrillo represents a significant step up in competition.

The Scottish striker has won all his ONE Championship bouts inside the distance with devastating knockout power, showcasing the finishing ability that has made him one of the most feared competitors in 'The Art of Eight Limbs.'

Carrillo, who trains at Deachkalek Muay Thai Academy, has his sights set on reigning ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai, and a dominant performance against Lessei would strengthen his case for a title shot.

For 'The Chef,' pulling off an upset victory over 'King of the North' would announce him as a legitimate contender in one of ONE Championship's most stacked divisions.

The clash between American grit and Scottish power promises fireworks when these two lock horns this Friday in Bangkok.

Active Amazon Prime Video subscribers in North America can catch all the action from ONE Fight Night 37 live and for free in U.S. primetime this Friday, November 7.
