Rukiya Anpo envisions total shutdown of Marat Grigorian at ONE 173: “I’ll beat Grigorian without him being able to do anything”

ONE Championship-debuting Rukiya Anpo is not only looking to defeat Marat Grigorian in their scheduled matchup this weekend but also do it in dominant fashion.

The two top-notch strikers are featured in a featherweight kickboxing bout at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri on Nov. 16 at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan. It will be Anpo's maiden outing in the 'Home of Martial Arts' after long competing in various organizations, including K-1.

In an interview with ONE Championship, which was uploaded on Instagram, 'Demolition Man' made his intention of an overwhelming victory over Grigorian known:

"I'll make him quit. I'll beat Grigorian without him being able to do anything. My win is already decided. I'm happy. Now that I'm here in ONE, I'm going to cause chaos. I'm the new ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion. Nice to meet you. The name's Rukiya Anpo."

The Grigorian-Anpo clash is one of 17 matches on offer at ONE 173, five of which are world title fights. The event is the second live on-ground show of ONE Championship in Japan this year.

Rukiya Anpo thrilled to be part of ONE Championship

Rukiya Anpo is excited to be now competing in ONE Championship, realizing his goal of battling against some of the best kickboxers in the game right now.

The former K-1 super lightweight champion is no longer a stranger to big fights but believes ONE presents a different challenge for him and he is happy with his decision to come on board.

He spoke about his decision to sign with ONE in an interview with the promotion, saying:

"I think there are so many people and fans who are really happy about me going to ONE Championship."

Rukiya Anpo added:

"Actually, I was thinking about this contract about three months [ago], I got offered by ONE Championship, and we were in discussion, and I got offered Marat Grigorian as my debut. So why not? This is a good deal."

In joining ONE Championship, Anpo has his eyes set on the featherweight kickboxing belt, which is being decided in the headlining unification fight at ONE 173 between reigning divisional king Superbon and interim champion Masaaki Noiri.
