Jake Paul was set to face Gervonta Davis on a huge Netflix boxing card later this month. However, that event got canceled due to Davis’ run in with the law.

Paul has since been searching for an opponent but a former rival does not seem to be in the running. Nate Diaz was linked to Paul for a rematch, but that won’t be happening. The former UFC star lost to the influencer in 2023 via a unanimous decision.

Paul commented under a Most Valuable Promotions Instagram post. The influencer respected Diaz’s willingness to fight but said it was not possible:

“Nate Diaz is a f*****g G. It isn’t meant to be, but respect for willing to step up on two weeks notice. So many pu**ys at the top of this sport with excuses.”

Paul has defeated quite a few big names in the boxing and MMA world. He holds wins over Mike Tyson, Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley. However, critics point out that all of his fights against the big names have come when they were far from their prime.

Paul has tried to find a quality opponent to replace Davis, but one former UFC champion wanted no part of this boxing fight.

Daniel Cormier unhappy with Jake Paul for Francis Ngannou call out

Jake Paul tried to get former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou to lace up the boxing gloves against him.

Ngannou, who left the UFC and is now in the PFL, declined the offer while taking a few shots at Paul and his promotion.

Paul's move seemed to upset quite a few people, including former two division UFC champion Daniel Cormier.

‘DC’ reacted to Paul’s callout of Ngannou on his YouTube channel, saying:

"I don't care what Anthony Joshua did to Francis Ngannou. If Jake Paul gets in there with Francis, Francis will knock his head off this planet. You don't want those Francis problems... Even if Jake got power, I don't think he's got the power to deal with Francis... If Jake actually fights Francis, I'll do nothing but give him credit."

Cormier added that 'The Problem Child' should not even be thinking of facing off against Ngannou:

"You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. The stupid prize will be fighting Francis Ngannou. I don't care what money Jake Paul would make; he shouldn't be fighting Francis Ngannou... Stay away from Francis Ngannou."

Paul holds a 12-1 record in professional boxing. His only loss has come at the hands of Tommy Fury, the brother of boxing great Tyson Fury.
