IBA president Umar Kremlev seems to have big plans for his promotion next year. The Russian decided to share a throwback from when Petr Yan and Conor McGregor had a playful face-off in 2023.
This face-off happened at the 8th edition of the IBA Champions’ Night in Dubai. However, this time, the president wanted Yan vs. McGregor as “the best main event” of 2026. He added that both parties needed to agree to this before the fight could be announced.
Yan recently reclaimed the UFC bantamweight title after impressively defeating Merab Dvalishvili. The Russian is known for his boxing skills as well, while McGregor took on Floyd Mayweather Jr in 2017.
Yan shot off a cheeky message to the Irish superstar as he reacted to Kremlin’s Instagram post:

McGregor hasn’t fought since 2021, when he lost twice to Dustin Poirier. He was scheduled to face Michael Chandler in 2024, but had to pull out with a foot injury.
While Yan would be expected to defend his title soon, McGregor has some grand plans for his next fight.
Conor McGregor hints at attending UFC White House event
Conor McGregor has repeatedly claimed he will be fighting at the UFC White House event. Even though Dana White has said that matchmaking and negotiations will start from February 2026, the Irishman is confident he will be there in some capacity.
Recently, TKO’s Mark Shapiro revealed that there would not be any tickets sold for the event. It most likely means that the event will be invite-only, but McGregor claimed he would have tickets for the show.
The Irishman remains one of the biggest names in combat sports, and it would make sense to see him at the event.
It remains to be seen whether he gets a fight. US President Donald Trump shared that he expects eight or nine title fights at the event.
The US president claimed that White had been holding back fights to ensure the event has the biggest fights.
