Joe Rogan pushed back against what he called dishonest media narratives during his latest conversation with Elon Musk. While reflecting on how political labels have shifted over time, Rogan recalled being branded a N*zi.
He shared a story about how mainstream outlets even used a photo from a UFC weigh-in to support conspiracy headlines against him. He said that the image was a harmless moment where he waved to fans, but it was repurposed to depict him as a far-right figure.
Speaking on episode #2404 of The Joe Rogan Experience, he said:
"So you got crazy leftwing DAs. Like I should say left-wing because left-wing used to be normal... Left wing just meant pro free speech, pro gay rights, pro women’s right to choose, pro minorities... Oh yeah, I’m a N*zi. I have friends that are comedians who called you [Musk] a N*zi, and I got pissed off."

He added:
"CNN was using that photo whenever I got in trouble during COVID. At the UFC weigh-ins I go, 'Hey, everybody welcome to the weigh-ins,' waving to the crowd. They were getting me from the side [and writing] conspiracy theorist podcaster Joe Rogan, that’s what they put out."

Rogan's podcast has repeatedly drawn criticism for allegedly platforming extremist voices and using offensive language. He has also been called out for defending figures accused of racism and antisemitism.
When Joe Rogan defended Elon Musk’s controversial salute
Elon Musk’s alleged N*zi-style salute stirred a heated debate in early 2025. During that time, Joe Rogan was quick to side with the tech billionaire.
On his podcast with Lex Fridman, Rogan dismissed the outrage as another example of what he called moral posturing. He argued that people were twisting gestures and words to attack public figures they disliked, stating:
"This is why they want to conflate, and they always want to pretend that everyone’s Hi*ler. The problem with that, after a while, it’s crying wolf, and people are like, ‘Oh, this is a bullsh*t game you’re playing and you’re just using it as an excuse.'... People use woke ideology as an excuse to be an as*hole, and it’s really just people that are as*holes that are attaching themselves to things that make them feel righteous.”
