ONE featherweight Muay Thai contender Luke Lessei of the United States understands the massive threat that Nico Carrillo's fists of fury bring.

'The Chef' will look to steal the Scotsman's fourth place in the rankings when they tussle at ONE Fight Night 37: Kryklia vs. Agdeve on Prime Video this coming Friday, Nov. 7, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Lessei has witnessed Carrillo's ferocious destruction in the bantamweight Muay Thai ranks, where he scored four straight vicious finishes against elite competition.

'King of the North' continued that rampage at featherweight, where he knocked out respected mainstay Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong at ONE Fight Night 30 in April to assert his dominance in a new weight class.

Given Carrillo's reputation as one of the most feared knockout artists in the promotion, most pundits have Lessei as the underdog for this one.

However, the proud Iowa native doesn't seem fazed, since he's used to dealing with powerful opponents.

Lessei told ONE Championship in his pre-event interview:

"I mean, if you are in ONE Championship and you don’t have power, that would be pretty weird. So, obviously, he has power, he hits hard. I mean that’s pretty much the standard for being a professional fighter."

Luke Lessei says he didn't hesitate when offered Nico Carrillo fight

Most fighters would give it a second thought when paired up against Nico Carrillo.

But Luke Lessei feels more excited the more formidable his opponent is, and jumped at the opportunity.

'The Chef' told ONE in the same interview:

"What happened was like, my last fight was January. I was trying to get a fight staying in the gym, that whole thing. And then I had ended up in direct contact with Chatri [Sityodtong]. And then he was like, 'Dude, you want to fight?' Like and I'm like, 'ASAP.' And then he said, 'All right, you can fight Nico.' And I was like, 'Say less, I will.'"

ONE Fight Night 37 will air live in U.S. primetime free for Prime Video subscribers in North America.
