Reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nabil Anane of Algeria and Thailand warned the entire 155-pound division of his arrival.
The 21-year-old phenom made a successful featherweight kickboxing debut at ONE 173, where he surgically annihilated Hiromi Wajima via unanimous decision on November 16 in Tokyo’s Ariake Arena.
Anane was initially set to defend his bantamweight crown against Jonathan Haggerty before the Englishman pulled out due to injury.
Despite the short notice, he still beat the former K-1 Champion in his first foray at a higher weight class.

Anane’s technical mastery overcame his kickboxing inexperience, and he believes the entire division will be in trouble once he gets used to the weight class.
The 6-foot-4 tower delivered an ominous message in his post-event interview with the Bangkok Post’s Nick Atkin:
"This was short notice, two weeks, and they said featherweight against K-1 champion. I have had only one last fight, which was my first fight in kickboxing. Now it's my second fight. I don't have experience in kickboxing, but I did a good job against a K-1 champion. I need more experience. If I have more experience than this, man, you guys are in trouble."
