Martyna Dominczak says she has adjusted to ONE Championship’s unique pacing: “The damage is more important”

Polish female Muay Thai sensation Martyna Dominczak believes she has entered another gear heading into her next appearance in ONE Championship, and she’s ready to make a statement at ONE Fight Night 38: Andrade vs. Baatarkhuu on Prime Video this weekend.

The 23-year-old Legion Glogow representative says she has grown accustomed to ONE Championship’s unique pacing and rule set, as she gears up to face her biggest test yet in atomweight kickboxing titleholder ‘The Queen’ Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom.

Dominczak recalled her loss to Ekaterina Vandaryeva in March 2024 as the turning point, which she says she and her husband/coach learned a lot from. The 23-year-old told ONE Championship in an interview:

“We handled it pretty good, I think. We know what I did wrong in that fight. It was just my second fight in ONE Championship, so we were learning the rules here because the rules in ONE Championship are a little bit different with the small gloves.”

Dominczak added:

“The damage is more important than, for example, the number of kicks or punches. It was a big lesson for us to know the rules better and also a big lesson that showed that I'm too small for the strawweight division.”

ONE Fight Night 38: Andrade vs. Baatarkhuu on Prime Video will go down live in U.S. primetime on Friday, Dec. 5, and will take place at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. North American fans can watch the event free of charge with Amazon Prime Video.

Martyna Dominczak ready to make history at ONE Fight Night 38 on Prime Video

Martyna Dominczak isn’t just after ONE Championship gold. Her end game is to make history as the first Polish ONE world champion ever by capturing the atomweight Muay Thai world title.

But to do just that, she needs to get past ‘The Queen’ Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom at ONE Fight Night 38: Andrade vs. Baatarkhuu on Prime Video this weekend. She’s confident she can get the job done.

Dominczak told ONE:

“I was the first Polish fighter contracted in ONE, and my plan is to be the first Polish ONE World Champion. It’s my dream. It’s my goal. I have to believe in this if I want this.”
