Marat Grigorian says he needs to be on top of his game against Rukiya Anpo: “At this level, you need to work on everything”

Three-time Kickboxing World Champion Marat Grigorian of Armenia is making sure he has all bases covered for his impending clash with Rukiya Anpo.

The 34-year-old battle-hardened veteran will seek to give the Japanese debutant a rude awakening at ONE 173 on November 16 inside Tokyo’s Ariake Arena.

While confident about his edge in terms of experience and credentials, Grigorian recognizes he cannot let up in his preparation to avoid an upset.

The former ONE world title challenger told the promotion in his pre-event interview:

"At this level, you need to work on everything. And I have been working on everything for this fight – speed, movement, combination, defense. Everything."

Grigorian has a grudge to settle against Anpo after their heated back-and-forth during the ONE 173 Tokyo Press Conference.

Still, the Hemmers Gym product isn’t underestimating the former K-1 champion’s elite speed and striking skills.

With 36 career knockouts in 68 career wins, Grigorian will once again rely on his destructive power to turn back ‘Demolition Man.'

Despite the heights he has already reached, the former Glory world champion keeps the same hunger and intensity in training.

This mindset should serve him well, as he hunts his third shot at ONE Championship gold.

Marat Grigorian vows to shut Rukiya Anpo's lights out

Marat Grigorian has never had a problem finding his opponents' chins, and he expects the same outcome at ONE 173.

The Armenian striking icon doubts Rukiya Anpo's defense will hold up once he meets his signature forward pressure and punishing punch combinations.

"With my output, I will go through his chin. I just want to beat him up really badly. I just want to feel his chin on my knuckles," Grigorian told ONE Championship.
