Jon Anik recently weighed in on United States President Donald Trump’s claim that eight or nine title fights are being stacked on the proposed UFC White House card. The UFC color commentator broke down how the UFC calendar is quietly clearing space.

By early February, UFC 325 will be complete, and several major title bouts will already be off the board. Alexander Volkanovski’s rematch with Diego Lopes will be done. Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes will be settled, and an interim lightweight champion will be crowned at UFC 324.

After that, the schedule slows sharply. Outside of a BMF title fight in early March, there is a noticeable gap with champions suddenly available.

Anik noted that if April and May cards avoid double title headers, the promotion could realistically have its biggest names aligned at once. Speaking in a recent episode of the Anik & Florian Podcast, he said:

"So Donald Trump, the president of the United States of America, has come out and suggested that Dana White and the brass might be holding back a bunch of title fights six months and that they might have eight or nine title fights on the White House card. A lot of that is actually rooted in truth."

He added:

"A lot of these champions are going to be available. If you have a numbered card or two, maybe one in April and May, and if those are not championship double headers, you are going to have Tom Aspinall at your disposal, Alex Pereira at your disposal, Khamzat Chimaev at your disposal, Islam Makhachev potentially at your disposal, and Ilia Topuria returning, Volkanovski [ready for a potential fight]... The calendar would be aligned for [all these fighters]. That brings us to [Tatsuro] Taira and [Joshua] Van. I think you are probably going to get that fight in March, maybe alongside the BMF fight or in April."

Trump has framed the June 14, 2026, event on the White House lawn as the centerpiece of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. While eight or nine title fights would break every UFC record, the calendar seems to be cooperating, according to Anik.

What did Donald Trump say about the UFC White House card?

Donald Trump has raised the expectations around the UFC’s planned White House event with a bold, championship-fights-heavy vision. The card, which is beig targeted for June 14, 2026, will reportedly feature eight or nine title fights.

Trump claims UFC CEO Dana White is deliberately slowing the championship schedule to load the card with marquee bouts. Speaking at the 48th Kennedy Center Honors Gala, he said:

“It’s gonna be June 14 next year. The great Dana White is building an arena. And they’re gonna have eight or nine championship fights. The biggest fights they’ve ever had. Everyone’s a championship fight, and everyone’s a legendary title fight. He is actually holding back fights right now for six months so he can do it [at the White House].”
